Do you have specific questions about Patrick Metals’ extrusion services and how we can help you? Here are some insightful answers to the typical questions that we are commonly asked.

What are the advantages of an extruded aluminum product?

Aluminum is highly malleable, allowing for many flexible, cost-efficient design options. Despite being easy to manipulate, aluminum maintains substantial strength, especially in relation to its weight. Aluminum also offers corrosion resistance, as well as good conductive properties for heat and electricity.

How long does it take for an order to ship?

This all depends upon the size and complexity of your order. We are well-equipped to meet even the tightest of deadlines, however, and we can expedite your order when your schedule requires it.

Does Patrick Metals use environmentally friendly materials?

We extrude aluminum, which is totally recyclable, retaining all of its original properties during the recycling process. Recycling scrap aluminum requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce the original metal. Considering the abundance of aluminum ore, aluminum is an economically and environmentally sustainable material.

Where are your extruded products manufactured?

Patrick Metals manufactures all of our products right here in the U.S.A., at our modern Indiana facility. We have a full-service plant that also features fabricating capabilities, die engineering with Computer-Aided Design (CAD), finishing services and rigid quality control.

What is the size range of the products you extrude?

We can extrude aluminum materials in lengths up to 56 feet, and circle sizes up to 9 inches. Our plant contains an 1800-ton press with a 7-inch diameter, as well as a 2,200/2,500-ton press with an 8-inch diameter.

How does the cost of tooling for aluminum extrusions compare with the costs of other materials and processes?

The cost of dies for aluminum extrusions is normally much less than that of tooling for other processes, such as die casting, roll forming, stamping, impact extrusion or vinyl extrusion.

Why is it beneficial to use the 6xxx series of alloys for aluminum extrusions?

The 6xxx series, which incorporates magnesium and silicon, provides superior extrudability, strength, corrosion resistance, formability and machinability – which explains why it’s also Patrick’s alloy of choice for all of our aluminum extrusions.

Can I get my extruded product shipped to anywhere in the United States?

Patrick Metals can ship your order to almost any location in North America, including the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America.
